water info |
Perfectly adapted to California’s annual water cycle, this plant will live on rainfall alone once established. It naturally goes dormant and shrinks over the summer dry season, swelling and growing again when rains return in late fall. Unlike some other dudleyas, this one will tolerate a little garden watering during the dry season, but err on the dry side. Best planted from late fall to early spring, when rains help it get established. If you’re buying during the dry season, you can keep it in a pot until the rainy season starts or try your luck planting and irrigating it through the summer. |
